NOTICE OF REVOCATION WITH CONDITIONS Case Nos. 96-187-GA; 96-212-FA William A. Basse, P-29168, Troy, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #57.

1) Revocation; 2) Effective January 31, 1997. Respondent was retained to institute collection proceedings on the complainant's behalf and to investigate the possibility of filing criminal charges against the debtor. The panel found, by default, that respondent failed to institute collection proceedings; failed to keep the complainant reasonably informed; failed to respond to the complainant's inquiries; failed to comply with the complainant's requests for the return of his file and documents; abandoned the representation; failed to answer the Request for Investigation; and failed to answer the Formal Complaints. Respondent also failed to appear at the disciplinary hearing.

Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4; 1.16(d); 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a) and (c).

The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law be revoked subject to conditions relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $262.56.

NOTE: Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law in Michigan since June 21, 1995. His license to practice law in Michigan was also revoked effective September 28, 1996.
