NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND NOTICE OF AUTOMATIC REINSTATEMENT (By Consent)

Case No. 98-190-JC Stephen M. Adams, P-37724, Ann Arbor, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #3.

1) Suspension - 30 Days; 2) Effective Retroactive to December 21, 1996;

3) Automatic Reinstatement; 4) Effective Retroactive to January 22, 1997.

Respondent admitted to having been convicted, in the 15th District Court, of the misdemeanor of attempted resisting and obstructing an officer, contrary to MCL 750.479. On January 8, 1999, the parties filed a Stipulation for Consent Order of Discipline, in which respondent represented that he was suspended from his employment with the Washtenaw County Public Defender Office from December 21, 1996 through January 21, 1997, and did not practice law during that period. Based on that representation, the parties stipulated that respondent be suspended from the practice of law in Michigan for 30 days retroactive to December 21, 1996.

On February 8, 1999, the panel entered an Order of Suspension (By Consent) which directed respondent to file an affidavit that he did not practice law in any form during the period of December 21, 1996 through January 21, 1997. Upon the filing of that affidavit, respondent was deemed to be in compliance, nunc pro tunc, with the requirements of MCR 9.123(A), effective retroactively to January 22, 1997. Costs were assessed in the amount of $107.47.
