1) Reprimand; 2) Effective November 2, 1996. In September 1993, Respondent appeared as counsel for the defendant in a criminal matter in Recorder's Court. A trial date was scheduled for January 13, 1994. Respondent was suspended from the practice of law in Michigan for a period of 180 days effective December 28, 1993, and until further order of the Supreme Court, the Attorney Discipline Board or a hearing panel.
The panel found, by a preponderance of the evidence, that respondent failed to notify the tribunal and the prosecutor in that matter of his disqualification from the practice of law, in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4)and(9); MCR 9.119; and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4(a)and(c).
Costs were assessed in the amount of $646.98. NOTE: Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law in Michigan since June 20, 1996.
