NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 96-12-GA Charles R. Stiles, P-21028, Lansing, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming Ingham County Hearing Panel #4's Order of Suspension.
1) Suspension - one (1) year; 2) Effective December 3, 1996. Respondent was appointed to represent three defendants in separate criminal appellate proceedings. The panel found, by a preponderance of the evidence, that respondent neglected all three matters, in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(a)-(c); 1.3; 1.4; 3.2; and 8.4(a) and (c).
Based on the established misconduct, the aggravating evidence, respondent's non-appearance for the sanction hearing, and the petitioner's recommendation, the panel ordered that respondent be suspended from the practice of law in Michigan for one year.
Respondent, through counsel, filed a delayed petition for review. In an order entered on July 2, 1997, the Attorney Discipline Board affirmed the panel's Order of Suspension. Costs were assessed in the total amount of $1067.78.
