NOTICE OF REVOCATION Case Nos. 96-103-GA; 96-119-FA William A. Basse, P-29168, Troy, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #70.
1) Revocation; 2) Effective September 28, 1996. In June 1993, respondent was retained to represent a man in a child support matter. Effective June 21, 1995, respondent was suspended from the practice of law for two years in Case Nos. 95- 31-GA; 95-55-FA. The panel found, by default, that respondent failed to inform his client, whom he still represented on appeal, of his suspension, as required by MCR 9.119(A); failed to inform the Court of Appeals of the suspension, in violation of MCR 9.119(B); on June 26, 1995, sent a letter to the Court of Appeals which contained his signature as an attorney and held himself out as his client's counsel; on June 27, 1995, held himself out as an attorney in good standing to his client by advising him that he had contacted the Court of Appeals on his behalf in an effort to hasten a hearing in the appeal; failed to file an Affidavit of Compliance with the Grievance Administrator and the Attorney Discipline Board, as required by MCR 9.119(C); failed to answer the Request for Investigation; and failed to answer the Formal Complaints. Respondent also failed to appear at the disciplinary hearing.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4),(7)and(9); MCR 9.113(A)and(B)(2); MCR 9.119(A)-(E); MCL 600.916, MSA 27A.916; and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 3.4(c); 5.5(a); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c).
Costs were assessed in the amount of $225.75. NOTE: Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law in Michigan since June 21, 1995.
