NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 93-279-GA Lawrence R. Greene, P-14336, Detroit, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #15.
1) Suspension - thirty (30) days; 2) Effective September 1, 1996. Respondent was appointed to represent a defendant on appeal from a criminal conviction. The panel found, by a preponderance of the evidence, that respondent failed to file an application for leave to appeal; attempted to file a brief with the Court of Appeals without having first filed an application for leave to appeal; and improperly submitted a voucher for services rendered alleging he had performed services equal to the sum of $448. Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(a); 1.3; and 1.5. On March 6, 1996, the panel entered an order of suspension for thirty days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,526.90.
Respondent filed a petition for review and received an automatic stay of discipline. On July 9, 1996, the parties filed a stipulation for dismissal of the petition for review. In the stipulation, the parties agreed that the discipline imposed by the panel would be effective September 1, 1996. An order granting the stipulation was entered on July 9, 1996.
