1) Revocation; 2) Effective July 30, 1996. Respondent was retained to represent three different clients--two in divorce matters and one in a child custody matter--and received fees from them totaling $857. The panel found, by default, that respondent neglected all three matters; abandoned the representation of all three clients without notice; failed to answer all three Requests for Investigation; and failed to answer both Formal Complaints. He also failed to appear at the hearing.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4)and(7); MCR 9.113(A)and(B)(2); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.16(d); 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c).
The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be revoked and that he make restitution to the complainants in the total amount of $857. Costs were assessed in the amount of $238.37.
NOTE: Respondent's license to practice law in Michigan was also revoked effective March 22, 1996.
