NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (By Consent)

Case No. 96-57-GA Georgia D. Manzie, P-42614, Detroit, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #15.

1) Suspension - 180 days; 2) Effective June 19, 1996. Respondent was retained to file a Motion for Relief from Judgment on the defendant's behalf in a criminal matter in Recorder's Court. The Motion for Relief from Judgment was denied. Respondent pled no contest to allegations that she failed to respond to her client's requests for the return of the trial transcripts and client file; and failed to answer the Request for Investigation.

Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4)and(7); MCR 9.113(A)and(B)(2); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.4(a); 1.15(b); 1.16(d); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)and(c).

The parties stipulated that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for 180 days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $79.98.

NOTE: Respondent was also suspended from the practice of law for two years effective April 3, 1996.
