NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (By Consent)
Case Nos. 95-127-GA; 95-154-GA Raymond J. Barton, P-39201, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #4.
1) Suspension - thirty (30) days; 2) Effective October 10, 1995. Respondent was retained to represent a client in a mortgage foreclosure matter. He pled nolo contendere to allegations that he failed to maintain adequate communication with his client or to respond to his client's inquiries; and failed to answer the Request for Investigation.
Respondent was retained to represent a client in a driver's license restoration matter. He pled nolo contendere to allegations that he failed to maintain adequate communication with his client or to respond to his client's inquiries; and failed to answer the Request for Investigation.
Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4)and(7); MCR 9.113(A)and(B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.16(d); 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)and(c).
The parties stipulated that respondent be suspended from the practice of law in Michigan for thirty days commencing October 10, 1995. Costs were assessed in the amount of $62.44.
NOTE: Respondent has been suspended from the practice of law in Michigan (pending appeal) since April 26, 1995.
