NOTICE OF REPRIMAND Case No. 93-240-GA John C. Qua, P-19148, Chicago, IL (formerly of Battle Creek, MI) by the Attorney Discipline Board Calhoun County Hearing Panel.
1) Reprimand; 2) Effective September 20, 1995. The panel found that respondent filed an answer on behalf of a defendant in a Michigan district court while on inactive status and not eligible to practice law in Michigan, in violation of MCR 9.104(1),(3)and(4); MCR 9.119(E); MCL 600.916, MSA 27A.916; and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.16(a)(1); 5.5(a); and 8.4(a)and(c). The panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded.
Respondent filed a petition for review, which was dismissed by the Attorney Discipline Board for his failure to file a brief in support of petition for review. Respondent filed two subsequent motions for relief, both of which were denied by the Board.
Costs were assessed in the amount of $617.25. NOTE: Respondent was placed on voluntary inactive status with the State Bar of Michigan on October 1, 1986, and has remained on inactive status in Michigan continuously since that time.
