NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 94-82-JC N.C. Deday LaRene, P-16420, Detroit, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming Tri-County Hearing Panel #27's Order of Suspension.
1) Suspension - thirty-three (33) months. 2) Effective May 4, 1994. On May 4, 1994, respondent was convicted in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, by guilty plea, of Conspiracy and Income Tax Evasion, in violation of 18 USC 371 and 26 USC 7201. In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent's license to practice law in Michigan was suspended automatically effective May 4, 1994, the date of the felony conviction. Upon the filing of the judgment of conviction, the Attorney Discipline Board entered an order directing respondent to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered. On August 17, 1994, the panel entered an Order of Suspension for thirty-three months effective May 4, 1994.
The Grievance Administrator and the respondent each filed a petition for review. On August 24, 1995, the Board entered an order affirming the thirty-three month suspension.
The Grievance Administrator filed an application for leave to appeal, which was denied by the Michigan Supreme Court in an order entered July 26, 1996.
Costs were assessed in the amount of $365.54.
