NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION Case Nos. 93-8-GA; 93-19-FA Christopher Grierson, P-39026, Saginaw, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Genesee County Hearing Panel #4.

1) Suspension - eighteen (18) months; 2) Effective December 2, 1993. Respondent failed to answer the formal complaints and failed to appear at the hearing held in Flint, Michigan on May 11, 1993. Respondent's defaults were entered, and the panel determined that the default established the allegations of the formal complaints.

Respondent was retained to represent the plaintiff in a divorce matter, but failed to institute divorce proceedings; failed to obtain an order of support compelling his client's husband to pay child support; failed to timely assist his client in obtaining support for herself and her minor children from social services; failed to communicate with his client; failed to answer the request for investigation; and failed to answer the formal complaints.

Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(A); MCR 9.104(1)-(4)and(7); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4; 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)and(c).

The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law be suspended for eighteen months and that he make restitution to his client in the amount of $200.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $280.21.

Respondent filed a petition for review, which was dismissed by the Attorney Discipline Board for his failure to file the required brief in support of his petition for review.

NOTE: Respondent's license to practice law in Michigan has been suspended continuously since September 25, 1993.
