NOTICE OF REPRIMAND AND RESTITUTION (By Consent)
Case No. 93-56-GA John R. Beason, P-34095, Grand Rapids, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Kent County Hearing Panel #3.
1) Reprimand; 2) Effective December 1, 1993. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for consent order of discipline pursuant to MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the hearing panel and the Attorney Grievance Commission.
Respondent was retained to render a legal opinion to a defendant regarding his conviction and received a $500 attorney fee. He pled nolo contendere to the allegation that he failed to refund, upon demand, the unearned portion of the $500 attorney fee.
Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.15(b); 1.16(d); and 8.4(a)and(c).
Respondent agreed to make restitution in the amount of $500. Costs were assessed in the amount of $19.15.
