1) Reprimand; 2) Effective January 28, 1994. Respondent was retained to represent the defendant in an appeal of a criminal matter, and filed a claim of appeal on his client's behalf. The hearing panel found that respondent failed to correct a deficiency in the filing of the claim of appeal while he was the attorney of record, which resulted in the dismissal of the appeal.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c) and 1.3.
Costs were assessed in the amount of $1173.33.
