1) Suspension - 18 months; 2) Effective November 4, 1993. Respondent failed to answer the formal complaints and failed to appear at the hearing held in Detroit on August 19, 1993. Respondent's defaults were entered, and the panel determined that the defaults established the allegations of the formal complaints.
Respondent received cocaine in lieu of monetary payment for legal services; failed to answer the request for investigation; and, failed to answer Formal Complaint 93-101-GA.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(5)and(7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.5; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c); and Canons 1 and 2 of the then-applicable Code of Professional Responsibility, DR 1-102(A)(1),(3)-(6) and DR 2- 106(A).
Costs were assessed in the amount of $126.08.
