NOTICE OF REPRIMAND Case Nos. 92-96-GA; 92-120-FA Ernest Laster, P-37396, Detroit, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming a hearing panel order of reprimand.
1) Reprimand; 2) Effective May 20, 1993. Respondent was retained by defendant's mother to represent her son in a criminal matter. The hearing panel found that respondent did not disclose or explain to the defendant's mother that he would be charging her for transporting her and her family members to and from the defendant's place of incarceration; and, failed to fully and fairly respond to the Attorney Grievance Commission's request for further information.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104 (1)-(4)and(7); MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.5(a); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a) and(c).
The Grievance Administrator filed a petition for review seeking restitution to the complainant. In an order issued July 19, 1993, the Attorney Discipline Board affirmed the hearing panel Order of Reprimand in all respects.
Costs were assessed in the amount of $647.00.
