AMENDED NOTICE OF REPRIMAND (By Consent)

Case No. DP 160/84 Ronald R. Gilbert, P 12975, Detroit, Michigan by Attorney Discipline Board, Wayne County Hearing Panel #20.

1) Reprimand; 2) Effective April 30, 1993. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for consent order of discipline pursuant to MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and the hearing panel.

The formal complaint charged that in 1984 the respondent's services as an attorney were recommended to a potential client by an individual to whom the respondent had paid certain expenses and compensation. Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1-5) and Canons 1 and 2 of the then applicable Code of Professional Responsibility, DR 1-102(1, 2-6); DR 2-103(A,C). In his answer to the complaint, the respondent denied that the acts complained of constituted professional misconduct and alleged the existence of mitigating factors pursuant to MCR 9.121(C). The respondent's subsequent plea of no contest was accepted by the Commission which noted the respondent's unblemished record before and since the alleged misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $374.21.
