NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION Case Nos. 92-186-GA; 92-226-FA D. Lee Williams, P-24728, Jackson, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #1.

1) Suspension - one year; 2) Effective February 26, 1993. Respondent failed to answer the formal complaints and failed to appear at the hearing held in Ann Arbor on January 11, 1993. Respondent's default was entered, and the panel determined that the default established the allegations of the formal complaint.

Respondent was retained in a forfeiture action involving an automobile, but failed to serve the Petition to Establish Bond in Connection with Forfeiture on the opposing party; failed to assert an interest in the automobile; failed to prosecute the matter; failed to return the unearned $250 fee; and made a false statement to his client.

Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1-4); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4; 1.16(d); 3.2; 8.4(a-c). The panel ordered respondent to make restitution to his client in the amount of $250. Costs were assessed in the amount of $182.65.

NOTE: Respondent's license to practice law in Michigan has been continuously suspended since October 6, 1992.
