NOTICE OF REPRIMAND Case No. 91-17-GA Mark S. Grant, P28485, Troy, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming a hearing panel order of reprimand.
1) Reprimand; 2) Effective February 23, 1993. Respondent was retained to represent clients concerning an adoption. The hearing panel found that respondent failed to perform the services for which he was retained; failed to respondent to his clients' inquiries concerning the status of the adoption; and, failed to answer the request for investigation.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104 (1-4,7); MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 8.4(a,c). On February 1, 1993, Tri-County Hearing Panel #63 entered an order of reprimand.
The Grievance Administrator filed a petition for review seeking an increase in the discipline imposed. On May 18, 1993, the Attorney Discipline Board entered an order affirming the hearing panel order of reprimand by a majority. A dissenting Board member voted to increase discipline to a 30-day suspension. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1658.48.
