NOTICE OF PROBATION (By Consent)
Case No. 91-22-GA Deborah Ann Dickson, P39841, Ann Arbor, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #3.
1) Probation - two (2) years; 2) Effective October 12, 1991. The respondent and the grievance administrator filed a stipulation for consent order of discipline pursuant to MCR 9.115 (F)(5) which was approved by the hearing panel and the Attorney Grievance Commission. Respondent offered her pleas of nolo contendere to the allegations contained in the formal complaint. from July, 1987 through October, 1988, respondent was appointed to represent the defendant in post-judgment proceedings in twenty-five separate matters. In all twenty-five matters, respondent neglected her clients by failing to file a claim of appeal, failing to seek other post-conviction relief, failing to perfect the filing of a claim of appeal, filing an untimely motion to remand for resentencing, filing a late claim of appeal, failing to file a brief on her client's behalf, and/or failing to pay costs assessed by the court. Respondent's conduct is found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1 -4); Canons 1, 6 and 7 of the Code of Professional Responsibility, DR 1-102(A)(1,5,6); DR 6-101(A)(3); DR 7-101(A) (1-3); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 8.4(a,c). Costs were assessed in the amount of $214.04.
