NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case Nos. 91-105-GA; 91-125-FA David S. Grant, Jr., P29252, Los Angeles, California (formerly of Flint, Michigan), by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #24.

1) Suspension - 180 days; 2) Effective October 8, 1991. Respondent failed to answer the formal complaint and failed to appear at the hearing held in Detroit on August 6, 1991. Respondent's default was entered and the panel determined that the default established the allegations of the Formal Complaint 91-105-GA. Formal Complaint 91-125-FA was dismissed without prejudice. Respondent was retained to prosecute a personal injury claim and instituted suit on his client's behalf, but failed to actively prosecute the case or comply with court orders; failed to notify his client of the case's dismissal; failed to notify his client of the client's ability to retain other counsel; failed to answer the legitimate inquiries of his client concerning the status of the pending matter; made false statements in his answer to the request for investigation; and failed to answer additional questions from the Attorney Grievance Commission. Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103; MCR 9.104(1-4,6, 7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); Canons 1, 6 and 7 of the Code of Professional Responsibility, DR 1-102(A) (1,5,6); DR 6-101(A)(3); DR 7-101(A)(1-3); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct, 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 3.2; 3.3(1,2,4); 3.4(a,b); 8.1(b); 8.4(a-c). Costs were assessed in the amount of $206.16.
