NOTICE OF REPRIMAND ADB 185-89; 90-9-FA James A. Tucker, P-21608, Detroit, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Wayne County Hearing Panel #26.

1) Reprimand; 2) Effective May 30, 1990. The respondent, through counsel, offered his plea of nolo contendere to the charges contained in both complaints. Respondent was retained to prosecute a claim arising from injuries caused by the "Copper 7" intrauterine device, but failed to communicate to his client the status of his efforts on her behalf, failed to respond to the client's inquiries regarding her case, failed to file an action on his client's behalf, abandoned his client's claim without his client's knowledge or consent, failed to answer the request for investigation, and failed to answer the formal complaints.

Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1-4,7); MCR 9.103; MCR 9.113(B)(2); Canons 1, 6 and 7 of the Code of Professional Responsibility, DR 1-102(A)(1,5,6); DR 6-101(A)(3); DR 7-101(A)(1-3); and Rules 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); and 8.4(a,c) of the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $228.20.
