1) Suspension - two and one-half years; 2) Effective June 23, 1989. The respondent offered pleas of nolo contendere in Recorder's Court for the City of Detroit to the crimes of attempted possession of less than fifty grams of cocaine in violation of MCLA 333.7403(2)(a)(iv) and manslaughter in violation of MCL 750.321. In accordance with MCR 9.120(A), the respondent's license to practice law was automatically suspended on June 23, 1989, the date of the felony manslaughter conviction.
Upon the filing of the Judgment of Conviction, the Attorney Discipline Board entered an order directing the respondent to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered. In an order dated May 14, 1990, Wayne County Hearing Panel #18 ordered that the respondent's license to practice law be suspended for a period of two and one-half years effective June 23, 1989, the date of conviction. Costs were assessed in the amount of $674.20.
