NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (By Consent)

ADB 50-89 Edward R. Barton, P-10514, Allegan, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Oakland County Hearing Panel #15.

1) Suspension - three years; 2) Effective January 4, 1989. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for consent order of discipline pursuant to MCR 9.115(F)(5) which was approved by the hearing panel and the Attorney Grievance Commission.

Respondent was convicted in the United States District Court, Western District of Michigan, of the crime of corruptly influencing and impeding officer and Court of the U.S. in violation of 18 USC 1503; obstruction of justice/perjury in violation of 18 USC 2; and corruptly influencing and impeding members of grand jury; obstruction of justice/grand jury investigation in violation of 18 USC 1503.

In accordance with MCR 9.120(A), the respondent's license to practice law was automatically suspended on March 1, 1989, the date of conviction. In an order dated February 1, 1990, the hearing panel ordered suspension of the respondent's license to practice law for a period of three years, effective January 4, 1989. Costs were assessed in the amount of $144.54.
