NOTICE OF SUSPENSION WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

Case Nos. 18-90-AI; 18-126-JC

Notice Issued: April 22, 2019

Vanessa F. McCamant, P 68254, Grand Rapids, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Kent County Hearing Panel #4.

Suspension - 179 Days, Effective August 13, 2018.

Respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a Stipulation for Consent Order of Discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. The stipulation contained respondent's admission that she was convicted in a matter titled People of the State of Michigan v Vanessa F. McCamant, 6th Judicial Circuit Court Case No. 2018-267134-FH, of operating while intoxicated, third offense, a felony, in violation of 257.62560, and failure to stop at the scene of a property damage accident, a misdemeanor, in violation of MCR 257.618. Based on respondent's conviction and the stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel found that respondent committed professional misconduct by engaging in conduct that violated a criminal law of the State of Michigan, in violation of MCR 9.104(5).

In accordance with the stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 179 days, with an effective date retroactive to the date respondent's guilty plea was accepted by the court, and that she be subject to conditions relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $824.51.
