1. Suspension - 60 Days 2. Effective January 3, 1985 Between September 30, 1982 and January 3, 1983, respondent wrote two checks, including a check for his annual dues to the State Bar of Michigan, drawn on his client trust account when he knew or should have known that the checks would be dishonored for insufficient funds and that he made false statements to the Grievance Administrator in response to a request for investigation and in response to questions posed during the Administrator's investigation. Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of GCR 953(1)-(4) and (6); and Canon 1, DR1-102(A)(4)-(6); and Canon 9, DR9-1 02(A) of the Code of Professional Responsibility. Respondent was also found to have failed to answer a formal complaint, in violation of GCR 953(7).
The Grievance Administrator and respondent each petitioned the Attorney Discipline Board for review and the matter was consolidated for review with an order of revocation entered by another panel in Grievance Administrator v Richard C. Ecker, ADB File No. 34-84. On December 12, 1984, the Board entered an order affirming the hearing panel orders of suspension and revocation in the consolidated matters. Respondent's suspension and revocation were entered concurrently with an effective date of January 3, 1985.
