(1 ) Revocation of l i c e n s e (2) Ef fec t ive September 26, 1984 Respondent was convicted of the fe lony of embezzlement over $100 i n the Jackson County C i r c u i t Court pursuant t o a p lea of nolo contendere to s a i d charge. He was sentenced to se rve a term of f i v e t o ten yea r s imprisonment and was remanded t o the custody of the Michigan Depar tment o f C o r r e c t i o n s . The c r i m i n a l c h a r g e was based upon Respondent 's misappropr ia t ion of sums of $34,000 o r more from t h e J a c k s o n County TIP o r g a n i z a t i o n , a program c r e a t e d t o encourage c i t i z e n s t o provide information to law enforcement agencies. The hear ing panel found that Respondent occupied a fud ic ia ry pos i t ion o f t r u s t a s the t r e a s u r e r of the TIP program, and v io la ted that duty. Respondent' s l i c e n s e t o p r a c t i c e was automa t i c a l l y suspended upon the
c o n v i c t i o n , by opera t ion of GCR 1963, 969.1; Respondent f a i l e d t o r e spond to the Attorney Disc ip l ine Board Order t o Show Cause why a f i n a l o rde r of d i s c i p l i n e should n o t be entered. The panel found t h a t Respondent d id i n f a c t have personal knowledge and n o t i c e of s a i d O r d e r t o Show Cause and of the panel proceedings and that Respondent d id n o t f i l e a n o t i c e of ob jec t ions o r m i t i g a t i o n and did no t make any o t h e r r e s p o n s e t o s a i d Order t o Show Cause. The p a n e l found v i o l a t i o n s of GCR 1963, 953(1-5).
