This is to inform the Courts of the State of Michigan of the following Order of Discipline: NOTICE OF SUSPENSION File Nos. DP-161/80, DP-74/81, DP-657180, & DP-161/80 JOSEPH E. CHABOT, (P11759) 190 North Paw Paw Street, Coloma, Michigan 49038, by the Attorney Discipline Board, Kalamazoo Circuit Hearing Panel "C". 1 ,

The Hearing Panel found that Respondent negotiated a divorce settlement which included transfer of title to a house, that Respondent handled the closing proceedings after sale of said house, that Respondent negotiated a loan to him- self of $25,000.00 from the proceeds of the real estate sale but failed to furnish the client with any documentation of the loan until one month after receipt of said funds from the client, and that Respondent failed to honor a demand for payment of the principal of the loan as provided in the Promissory Note. The Panel found that the client was not advised to secure independent representation or advise before making said loan to Respondent and that security for the debt was not offered or discussed and that Respondent, at the time of making of the loan, continued his representa- tion of the client. The Panel found violations of the Code of Professional Responsibility, Canon 1, DR 1-102, (A) (5) (61, Canon 5, DR 5-104, (A) and GCR 1963, 953 (1-4). The Panel did not agree that the allegations of dishonesty had been estamshed. Respondent was assessed costs in the amount of $179.29. LJ&-*L A DAVID BAKER LEWIS, Secretary September &s, 1981
