NOTICE OF REPRIMAND (By Consent)

Case No. 17-31-GA Notice Issued: May 26,2017 Michael J. Pelot, P 42362, Lansing, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Ingham County Hearing Panel #4.

Reprimand, Effective May 26, 2017 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. The stipulation contains respondent's admission that he committed acts of professional misconduct in his position as Staff Attorney for the Department of Civil Rights, where he was to provide counsel to Department investigators.

Based upon respondent's admissions and the stipulation of the parties, the panel found that respondent directly contacted a discrimination complainant who was represented, in violation of MRPC 4.2. Respondent was also found to have violated MCR 9.104(1 )-(3) and MRPC 8.4(a) and (c). In accordance with the stipulation of the parties, the panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded. Costs were assessed in the amount of $757.71.
