NOTICE OF REPRIMAND AND RESTITUTION (By Consent)

Case No. 16-90-GA Notice Issued: February 1, 2017 Jeffrey G. Bennett, P 43946, Ann Arbor, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #3.

Reprimand - Effective January 31, 2017 The Grievance Administrator filed a formal complaint alleging that respondent committed professional misconduct during his representation of a client in a real property dispute. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel.

Based upon respondent's admissions and the stipulation of the parties, it was established that respondent neglected a legal matter, in violation of MRPC 1.1 (c); and failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of his matter and to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information, in violation of MRPC 1.4(a).

In accordance with the stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded and pay restitution totaling $3,140.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,189.88.
