NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION (By Consent)

Case No. 16-110-GA Notice Issued: January 5, 2017 Laurence B. Doman, P 31731, Dearborn, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board TriĀ­ County Hearing Panel #24.

Suspension - 60 Days, Effective January 5, 2017 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. Based upon respondent's plea, admissions and the stipulation of the parties, the panel found that, during representation of a client seeking a refund of his earnest money deposit paid to qualify as a bidder in a real estate auction, respondent neglected a legal matter, in violation of MRPC 1.1 (c); failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing his client, in violation MRPC 1.3; and failed to have reasonable communication with his client and/or failed to explain the matter to his client to the extent reasonably necessary to permit his client to make informed decision regarding the representation, in violation of MRPC 1.4(a) and (b). Respondent was also found to have violated MRPC 8.4(a), (c), and MCR 9.104(1)-(3).

In accordance with the stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 60 days and that respondent pay restitution to Complainant Said A. Kawsan in the amount of $9,676.24. Costs were assessed in
